The PDL is the union that represents the professional employees of the Bonneville Power Administration. "Professional" employees occupy positions for which there is a positive educational requirement as outlined in BPA Personnel Letter number 296-6. If you are in one of these positions, and have not been "excluded" from union representation by management due to the supervisory, policy development, or sensitive nature of your position, then you are one of our bargaining unit members. There are two other unions at BPA representing the hourly employees (Columbia Power Trades Council) and other annual employees (American Federation of Government Employees). Our full name is the Professional Division, Laborers' International Union of North America, Local 335. You can find a link to our national and other union resources on the "PDL Links" page. If you are interested in becoming an active member, please see the "How to Join PDL" part of our site. For further background on labor unions in general, see our "Labor Links" section. A list of our current bargaining unit members is located under "BPA Links". Our latest Collective Bargaining Agreement, negotiated during the fall of 1998 and signed on 2/18/99, is located in the "Contract" section. This is your union. We exist to help communicate your needs and desires to Bonneville management, and to negotiate with management on those items affecting the workplace environment as defined in the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute (Chapter 71 of Title 5 of the United States Code). You can find access to this important statute under "Labor Links" in the Political Resources section. The PDL represents its members through the negotiated Employee Concerns Resolution Process and Grievance Procedure outlined in Sections 9 and 10 of our Contract. We also participate as standing members with management on BPA's Partnership Council. Please contact any of your local's officers using the email links below, look us up in the BPA phone book and give us a call, or stop on by. Questions, concerns, ideas, and congratulations, are all welcomed. We look forward to hearing from you! PDL Officers: |
